Day 7, back from Wooster
The first week of feeding the worms is exceptionally peaceful, increasingly so compared to the feeding frenzy to come in about 25 days. I'm dreading the final ten days of feeding the worms, but also very excited about the adventure of raising the worms to the stage of cocooning. I've been prepping my trees for the past year just so they might be to my best advantage during that feeding frenzy. But I still worry that I might now have enough trees on the property for my 2,250 worms. If I was to guess, I could fill my full size truck bed with leaves 30 times over from what grows on my 6 acre horse farm. I am worried that won't be enough for that final week of feeding, I even expect to use my truck for harvest mulberry along the driveway for worms food.
I left the worms in the care of my boys while I traveled to the Great Lakes Fiber Festival. I'll make a separate post for the excitement over the weekend!
I made a peaceful YouTube short of what it's like to care for the worms in these early days.
